Ask a Teacher - Geography - Physical - A Question from Phila

Student Name Phila
Question Are there any benefit of earthquakes?
Answer

Yes, earthquakes are natural events and thus are part of the creation of landscapes and features on the surface of the earth.

Where an earthquake has happened the immediate consequence is negative but in some areas the city/state may take the opportunity to reshape/redesign a city area so as to take account of the future prospect of another earthquake e.g. build earthquake resistant buildings, restrict building in areas more likely to have serious damage e.g. sand areas.
