| Question |
What are ribbon lakes and misfit streams?
|
| Answer |
A ribbon lake is a glaciated u-shaped valley which has been submerged in water e.g. Loch Ness, Lomond... in fact all lochs in Scotland.
A mis-fit stream is a stream flowing along the bottom of a u-shaped valley. It is mis-fit in the sense that the river did not create the u-shaped valley. Hence all streams flowing in a glaciated u-shaped valley are mis-fit.
