Informative Writing

Our concern in this revision section is to look more closely at the first purpose of writing which is examined in Standard Grade English: to convey information. This means that you are expected to write informatively on a given topic for your reader (but hopefully in an interesting way!). You will be given the opportunity to write informatively both in your examination and for your folio of coursework. The details which follow cover both possibilities.

  1. What is an information essay about?
  2. The Titanic (Information essay A)
  3. How do you select your topic for an informative essay?
  4. Where do you find information for this type of essay?
  5. How do you prepare for this type of essay? How do you make notes?
  6. The Titanic (Information essay B)
  7. How do you plan the order for an informative essay ?
  8. How do you draft an informative essay ?
