William McIlvanney – Docherty
McIlvanney has devoted much of literary career towards creating realistic portrayals of working class communities in the West of Scotland. His honesty, integrity and faithfulness to his subjects are always apparent, no more so than in Docherty, which traces a working class journey through the 20th century by telling the story of Tam Docherty, a miner from the fictional town of Graithnock.
