The 1970s brought huge radio developments
in BBC Scotland. Radio Highland began in Inverness in March 1976, Radio
Aberdeen in April 1976, Radio Orkney and Radio Shetland in May 1977 and
the first national radio station in Scotland opened in November 1978.
Sportscene began in 1975 and Sunset Song, Songs of Scotland and The Beechgrove
Garden were just three of our television highlights of the decade - you
