Radio Scotland Commissioning Process

This section provides information about the commissioning process for Radio Scotland

It's important that you listen to our output in order to gain an understanding of what we do already and what the overall tone and sound of the station is.

Our output primarily consists of strand programmes which either strip across the week Monday-Friday or fill a weekly slot. Most strands run for the majority of the year (eg. Call Kaye, Vic Galloway) although a handful only transmit every other quarter (eg. Stark Talk, Medical Matters).

Strand programmes are produced by established in-house/independent production teams.

Our weekly schedules

Current opportunities

BBC Scotland would like to offer a single independent the opportunity to provide our golf programming coverage over the next year.

The coverage will be a mix of live event coverage and magazines.

In addition to providing the programmes below we will be keen to hear ideas about how the content can be utilised across all of our platforms and link to our existing programmes and news content.

There may be additional opportunities to provide reports and coverage at other events.

Magazine (28 x 57min)

A one hour programme covering golf from a Scottish perspective.

The programme will air from Sunday 1st April to Sunday 7th October 2012 on Sunday mornings.

We would like offers based on a magazine style programme, probably with live presentation linking a series of features and interviews. The programme should reflect the level of interest in world golf, Scottish professional players on tour and the amateur golfer's strive to be the best they can be.

It should include features on courses, equipment and training techniques.

Live coverage (4 days x 6 hours)

Coverage of the Scottish Open from Castle Stuart near Inverness.

The programming will be over four days from Thursday July 12 Jul - Sunday 15 Jul 2012.

The coverage will have live presentation from the course with on course reporting.

We would like offers based on ball-by-ball commentary with a mix of interviews and reports based around the event.

Total budget is £90,000

Timetable for Offers

Offers to Radio Scotland rounds must be submitted using the Proteus system. If you are not already registered with Proteus, please contact Linda Atkinson and she will arrange for the relevant documents and a link to Proteus to be sent to you. Please note that it takes about a week for this procedure to happen so make sure you have enough time to get your offer in before the round closes.
