The Road To War: The Triple Alliance

Now that you have worked through the article and answered the questions at the bottom of each page, use your answers as an outline for writing. Use facts and other sources to write paragraphs that support your answers. Write for revision or practice essays for your coursework.

If you are looking at a page of questions with no answers, go back to the first page of the article and tick the boxes of the answers you think are most correct (there can be more than one!) to build your own outline for writing.

How do you think war came out of the alliance system that was meant to keep the peace?
Why do you think Germany did not do more to make peace between Austria and Serbia, but drew Russia into a larger war?
How much do you think Imperialism, or the activities of the empires, was the cause of the war?
Why do you think Germany was certain it would win a quick war against the Triple Entente?
