Consonant Clusters Print and Do

How to play The Pyramid game

Players
2 or more

Sounds covered
Final phoneme ll

Preparation
You will need these printouts:

  • A Pyramid. Cut out the shape, fold and stick as shown.
  • A set of Initial letter cards. These need to be cut out individually. The children may be able to help with this.
  • A score sheet for each player.

How to play
Players take it in turn to pick up a card and 'throw' the Pyramid. First look at the start sound shown on the card, then pick up the pyramid to see what word ending is on the bottom.
If these two sounds make a real word then write it into the next space on your score sheet.
The winner is the first to get 6 real words!

Why not extend this game by asking the children to make up some new start sound cards or a new pyramid with different word endings?
