Teachers

Welcome!
The ‘Children in Victorian Britain’ website looks at the lives of children in the age of Queen Victoria. The site supports the programmes in the Landmark television series. There is also a teacher’s resource pack. The site is aimed at History Key Stage 2b (9-11 years).

The Help IconHelp Icon
There is a help icon on every page of the site. If the children get stuck, they can click on ’Bert the Chimney Sweep’ and they will get instructions on how to proceed.

The audio iconAudio
The site has audio and would be best used in a classroom situation with headphones.

Go Faster Buttons!
In the learning areas of the site there are ‘learning movies’ which may require some time to download. To speed up this process, we suggest you load them into your computer prior to using the resource in the classroom. You can do this in the following ways:-
  1. Look at the movies once on the site. The next time you look at them, all the pictures and audio will be loaded.
  2. Use the button below to preload the material. When you have finished using the site, you can clear your computer’s memory by clicking the ‘unload’ button.
