BBC - Victorians - Parents Section

Hello and welcome to the site on Children in Victorian Britain. This interesting and fun historical site gives an insight into the lives of Victorian children. This site is designed for children age 9-11 years. Three main areas are dealt with on the site:-

Children at work (Standard) or (Interactive).
Children at school (Standard) or (Interactive).
Children at play (Standard) or (Interactive).

The site has been designed for children to be able to work through by themselves with minimal input. It is worth looking through the contents area to familiarise yourself with the activities on offer.

Help Icon
There is a help icon on every page of the site. If the children get stuck, they can click on 'Bert the Chimney Sweep' and they will get instructions on how to proceed.

Audio
The site uses audio, so headphones may be advisable.

Go Faster Buttons!
In the learning areas of the site there are ‘learning movies’ which may require some time to download. To speed up this process, we suggest you load them into your computer prior to using in the home. You can do this in the following ways:-

Look at the movies once on the site. The next time you look at them, all the pictures and audio will be loaded.
Use the button below to preload the material. When you have finished using the site, you can clear your computer’s memory by clicking the ‘unload’ button.
