Sports Grounds in Belfast
Windsor Park
This is the stadium where international football matches are played. It is also where Linfield, the Irish League football club, play. Windsor Park
The Mary Peters Track
Mary Peters Track The Mary Peters Track is Belfast's international athletics stadium. It is named after the Belfast athlete who won the Olympic gold medal for the Pentathlon in 1972. The university grounds are also nearby with their football and hockey fields.
Ravenhill
Rugby Union is played at Ravenhill. Some international matches are played here as well as all the Ulster provincial matches. Rugby Union has become more popular since the Ulster team won the European Cup in 1999. Ravenhill
The Odyssey
The Odyssey Many different sports and entertainment events are held at The Odyssey arena which holds 10,000 spectators. It is also the home ground for the ice hockey team, The Belfast Giants, and the floor of the Arena is specially frozen for the matches. Ice hockey is fast becoming a very popular sport in Belfast.
Casement Park
Gaelic football and the Gaelic game of hurling and are usually played on Sunday afternoons at Casement Park. These games began in Ireland. Gaelic football is best described as a mixture of football and rugby. The ball is round like a football but can be carried as in rugby. The team has 15 players including a goal keeper. Hurling is similar to hockey and also has a team of 15 people. Casement Park
