Trade Your Way to the USA returned to CBBC on 23 April for an exciting new series with Saira Khan on the hunt to find the best young traders in Britain. In each episode, two teams go head to head competing in challenges to buy, sell and make real money. The team that makes the most profit goes through to the next round, eventually ending up in an all-singing, all-dancing grand finale in the USA.
New for 2012 is the Trade Your Way: Schools Challenge. The aim is for KS2 students to set up their own business initiatives and we will provide everything that teachers need to encourage, develop and inspire the entrepreneurs of the future.
Over the course of the challenge, students can improve their employability skills, gain a greater understanding of the world of work and make a positive contribution to the community they live in. Pupils and teachers will be supported by a range of cross-curricular activities that will give them the enterprise skills they need to succeed. These include:
The Trade Your Way Teacher's Pack is an online toolkit of teaching activities, lesson plans, videos and worksheets all linked to the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
We want you to tell us about all the enterprise activity that is happening in your school. Visit Saira's Diary for top money-making tips and examples of school businesses taking place around the country. For the chance to feature your school get in touch.
Taking place on 25 April at 6.20pm, the webchat gave students the opportunity to pose their business questions to Saira. You can read Saira's answers to the questions sent in to gain top tips yourself.
Touring multiple locations across the UK, Saira Khan hosts an interactive roadshow offering participating schools the opportunity to take part in enterprise inspired workshops, gaining top tips and advice for making their business happen in school.
It is the students who are in charge of dreaming up their own business ideas and turning them into profitable enterprises. Any money they make goes towards a school project or charity that they feel passionate about. The list of ideas is endless, it could be anything from a bake sale to a fashion show, but the idea must be their own, they must plan it, advertise it and run it themselves.
