KS3 Bitesize

Objectives

  • Pupils measure and draw angles to the nearest degree, and use language associated with angle.

Bitesize English fish

  • AT3 level 5

Teaching activities

Mental Starter

  • At least 5 random questions on metric to metric conversions:
    "How many m in a cm?"
  • Then conversion questions.
    "Convert 5m into cm."

Activity

  1. Define the key words.
  2. Lots of quick fire questions from the board:
    "Which word describes this angle?"
  3. Give out the worksheet.
  4. All pupils should be able to get started, pupils could move on at their own pace.
  5. The teacher should ensure that everybody has understood the language by marking his or her work during the lesson as she is walking around.

Extension

  • Accurately drawing diagrams and locus.

Plenary

  • A pupil stands facing away from the board.
    One of the key words from the day is written above her head.
    She has 4 questions to help her to guess the word.

Homework

  • Design a poster that uses all of the key words.
