Teaching activities

Mental Starter

  • Lots of quick fire questions on:
  • 180 - 40
  • 180 - 2 x 40
  • 180 - 60

Activity

  1. Continue with the quick fire questions.
  2. Draw isosceles triangles on the board; "If this is 40°, what is this? So what is this?" Lots of questions.
  3. Then give out the worksheet.
  4. Pupils should be able to tackle the first part now.
  5. Bring the class back together.
  6. Continue with the quick fire questions.
  7. Draw isosceles triangles on the board; "If this is 40° what is this? So what is this?" Lots of questions.
  8. Introduce the second part of the sheet. "How do I know that these are isosceles triangles?"

Extension

  • Introduce more circle theory.

Plenary

  • Lots of quick fire questions on isosceles triangles and isosceles triangles in circles.

Homework

  • A pre-prepared worksheet.
