The Baby Borrowers TV Series
The Baby Borrowers TV series put five teenage couples aged between 16 and 19 in a unique social experiment exploring the reality of running a household, looking after children and maintaining a relationship. Having never lived together before, they were given their own homes in a quiet street in Norwich with flat-packed furniture to build.
In the first week they started real jobs and experienced the joys of pregnancy, wearing empathy bellies, attending antenatal classes and preparing for the arrival of a child.
Five mothers agreed to entrust the teenage couples with the most precious thing in the world - their babies. The couples looked after the babies for three days, dealing with routines, coping with feeding, changing nappies and playing with the babies - the realities of parenting.
As soon as the babies left they were replaced by toddlers for three days, followed by pre-teens and pets. Three days later the couples looked after young teens (12-14 year olds) and finally the elderly (80+) moved in. They experienced the whole spectrum of life in just four weeks.
