My hobbies include cricket, playing on my laptop or Xbox and football. I'm a huge Charlton Athletic fan! I love rock music - my favourite bands are Coldplay and Led Zeppelin.

Special TVs and traffic measures - 15/08/08

Hey everyone!

I've now only got 5 days before I'm heading back to London. Time has passed very quickly indeed, probably because of all the Olympics I'm watching on TV! I'm also playing pool for unhealthily long periods of time each day – there's not much else for me to do now I've seen everything to see in Beijing. I still have tickets for some Olympic events though, just before I depart China. I'll be watching what should be the latter stages of boxing (on the 17th) and basketball (on the 18th).

Right now I'm in a café watching beach volleyball between China and Sweden. I've been here many times before, when the café had no TV screens. I asked the owner when she got the TVs, she said “Just in time for the Olympics!” This has given me the impression that everyone in China has taken special measures in some way to prepare for the Olympics, which shows great enthusiasm for the Games in my opinion.

I've found during my stay (so far!) that Beijing has got a lot cleaner in terms of pollution. This has been helped in that the number of cars on the road has been halved by the system of vehicles only being allowed to drive on odd or even days, depending on their number plates. For example, my uncle's registration number ends in 8 so he can only drive on the 2nd, 4th and 6th days of the month and so on. This doesn't count for public transport, thankfully, so I can get from my grandmother's place to elsewhere (she doesn't have a car).

Well, I've got to go now, time to visit my cousins and play some more pool with my uncle!

I hope you saw the closing! It has been a great Olympics for GB and I only hope we can do as well (sport wise!) in 2012. I also like the idea of ensuring there is a 'London feel'.
