Bianca Walkden, 16 - Taekwondo Reserve

I am a Great Britain junior taekwondo athlete. I got into taekwondo because my friend had started to do it and she asked me to come with her. I like taekwondo because it is quick and dynamic, and it is more interesting than running! This year I got a gold medal at the Dutch Open, silver at Belgium in the senior weight category, and silver at the Junior Worlds. I am also the reserve athlete for the Beijing Olympic Games for the +67kg.

The Olympic Village - 19/08/08

I am still in Macau with the Great Britain team. This Sunday our Taekwondo team and the athletes' team went to Beijing, and the hotel now is so quiet - it's scary! Me and Tiger (who is also in the 2012 group) are here by ourselves waiting for the rest of the group. The 2012 group arrived on Monday night. We had to meet them up downstairs at 20.30pm, and had to go to a meeting with them and have a safety check.

The following day we went around Macau to have a look of all the training venues that the athletes have been using to help them in their preparation for the games, and today we went to Beijing because we had a flight at 10. In the morning, when we arrived, we went to the Olympic Village to get settled in. It was so nice to see it and it was so big. That day we went to see our Taekwondo team. One of our players was fighting today, but we were unlucky - we didn't get to watch him because we were traveling into Beijing. I was gutted.
