Senior Baker

Find out more about being a senior baker

Responsible for:

Producing bread and cakes.

Salary:

£30,000.

Working hours:

38 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with alternate Saturdays.

Qualifications:

4 GCSEs and NVQs are preferable.

General requirements:

Good leadership skills, efficient, confident, decisive, responsible. You have to be methodical. It is important to measure the ingredients correctly, and to time the baking accurately.

Career prospects:

It is possible to progress to team leader or supervisor. Some move to related areas of work, such as teaching baking skills. Craft bakers with experience can set up and run their own bakery businesses.
