Orphan boy Cirrus Flux is being watched. Merciless rogues are conniving to steal the world's most divine power, which they believe Cirrus has inherited.
Now he faces a perilous journey through London as a sinister mesmerist, a tiny man with an all-seeing eye, and a skull-collecting scoundrel pursue him. Cirrus must escape them.

Introduction
Cirrus Flux is a book set in the 18th century, full of magic and adventure, it isn't illustrated but it's design gives it a real historical feel. I found it really exciting and interesting and it taught me a lot about the times in which it is set by it's use of detail and description.
I found it very enjoyable and would highly recommend it.
Plot
The story is all about Cirrus Flux and Pandora who are both orphans who run away from the same orphanage (the "hospital"). Cirrus has inherited a powerful sphere from his father which evil forces are trying to steal. He goes on the run across London trying to escape. Pandora is trying to find Cirrus too but she has good intentions.
The descriptions of old London are really imaginative, dirty, dark and sinister. There is even a man in the stocks at one point and the River Thames is more like a sewer.
The book is really interestingly written. To start with the chapters alternate between their two stories but eventually they meet up again and share the story. Alongside the main story is the story of Cirrus' father which appears at regular intervals throughout the book explaining the background to Cirrus' situation.
In summary
I really didn't know what to expect of this book and was pleased to find it had a historical setting, it's really well written and the story carries you along but is not at all predictable. I found myself not wanting to read it too quickly as I was enjoying it so much!
