Meerkats Poem

one meerkat Listen very carefully. What can you hear?
What can you see? Is there anybody here?
Look very carefully, something may appear.
It’s one little, dear little meerkat.

One little meerkat popping up to peer,
Keeping a lookout - is there something coming near?
Keeping a watch, using whisker, nose and ear
One little, dear little, meerkat.

Two little meerkats popping up to peer.
What can they see? What can they hear?
Two little meerkats trembling with fear
Two little, dear little, meerkats.

three meerkats

Three little meerkats peering far and near,
Is that something coming? Creeping close to here?
Is that trouble coming? Then it’s time to disappear.
Three little, dear little, meerkats.

Four little meerkats shed a little tear,
They shiver and they quiver and say ‘oh dear,oh dear.’
What will it be? What will appear?
Oh - it's just another dear little meerkat!

five meerkats Five little meerkats give a little cheer,
There’s no danger after all! We’re all safe here.
We’ll all live happily year after year
‘cos we’re safe little, dear little, meerkats.
