The hairy bears are in despair.
They do not play. They stand and stare.
Some THING has given them a scare.
Something’s crept into their lair.
The hairy bears are in despair.
They hang around and chat in pairs.
What can have given such a scare?
They ask each other and declare
“Still in despair”, we hairy bears
“We’re scared of every step and stair.”
They stand and mutter “It’s not fair!”
The hairy bears are in despair.
Poor hairy bears - in such despair!
They cannot go into their lair.
They’re all too scared. They do not dare.
The hairy bears are in despair.
|
 | Then one speaks up “I’ll go in there!”
The others shout “Oh no! Beware!”
but he puts on his fiercest glare
and in he goes, into the lair.
And what does he find sitting there?
A hare - sitting in his favourite chair,
while calmly chewing on a pear.
“Hop it!” shouts bear “Get out of there!”
Now the hare is in despair,
“I’ve nowhere to live and no clothes to wear!”
She sobs and tears out tufts of hair
until she looks quite bald and bare.
But the hairy bears are full of care.
What to do? What would be fair?
Then they decide that they could share!
Now that would be all fair and square!

 |
Each hairy bear prepares to share.
They tell each other that it’s fair
to live together in the lair...
The Hairy Bears and the Homeless Hare.
