This game teaches nine multi-sensory strategies which underpin all teaching
of spelling in the junior stages. There are 3 largely visual, 3 auditory
and articulatory and 3 cognitive spelling strategies presented by the
BBC Spellits TV characters Eyes, Ears and Brain. The spelling strategies
are integrated into a game, making learning fun and providing motivation
for the children to complete all the activities. Click here for more
details on curriculum
relevance.
Dramatic
context
Sam and Yasmin are on a day out to Castle Park and have got lost in
the Maze. The children using the site are invited to help Yasmin and
Sam escape from the Maze by completing 9 spelling challenges. To escape,
Sam and Yasmin need the map of the Maze which has been torn into 9 pieces
and hidden all over Castle Park. Each time the children successfully
complete a challenge they are rewarded with a clue which they can record
on their Clue List. In this game the spelling challenges can be completed
