The Science Clips website is aimed at children aged 5-11 years and their teachers. It accompanies the Science Clips TV series (for details and transmission times, please visit the BBC Schools Programme Guide.)
For each of the 36 units, there is an interactive experiment and quiz. Each unit also has an associated set of teacher resources, which can be found by clicking on the appropriate age group link above.
Like the TV series, the site is arranged into 36 units, corresponding to the QCA's Primary Schemes of Work for Science. It adheres to the Programmes of Study at Key Stages 1 and 2 for Science in England; to Scotland’s 5-14 Curriculum for Science; to the Programmes of Study For Science at Key Stages 1 and 2 in Wales; and to the Programmes of Study for Science and Technology at Key Stages 1 and 2 in Northern Ireland.
For teachers in Scotland there are separate teacher resources. A summary is provided, showing how the units relate to the attainment targets of the 5-14 Science curriculum for Scotland. There is also a detailed unit-by-unit explanation of the teaching points which can be drawn out whilst working through each one, together with list of suggested follow-up activities. These can be viewed by clicking the links below.
