Introduction
Recap on the following knowledge: that plants need light, warmth and water to grow well; that plants need healthy leaves, roots and stems in order to grow well; that a number of plants need to be used in investigations to provide reliable evidence. Explain that reproduction is a process that all living things do. Reproduction of flowering plants is made possible through the processes of pollination, seed production, seed dispersal and germination. If possible, present this in the context of a story of the life of a flower. Mention the key points and functions of the Petal, Sepal, Nectary, Style, Stigma, Ovary, Ovule, Anther, Filament, Receptacle. As you mention each part, add the appropriate label to the display.

Activitives
Hand out individual copies of the Life cycles worksheet. Explain to the children that they should match each part of the flower to the right description. The correct matching is as follows.

Petal: attracts insects for pollination

Stamen: produces pollen

Ovary: produces egg cells

Sepal: protects the bud

Stigma: collects the pollen

Plenary
Remove the labels from the display and ask individuals to place them in the correct position. Go through the worksheet, matching each part to the right description.
