Flowers in Florida

¿Sabes que...?

Many places in the south of the USA were named by Spanish explorers, often after how the place looked. For example, Florida means 'flowery', Colorado means 'colourful' and Montana (from the Spanish Montaña) means 'mountain'. So a US address like 'Las Vegas, Nevada', translates into English as 'The Meadows, Snowy.'
