You might want to describe your journey to school to someone:

por delante de... - in front of...

You might pass:

If your school is in the middle of town, you might pass:

un museo - a museum

una estación (de tren) - a (train) station

Or you might be lucky enough to pass un río.

If you're giving someone instructions of how to get to your school, you might find these phrases useful:

cinco minutos más tarde - five minutes later

por fin - finally

Giro - I turn

a la derecha - (to/on the) right

a la izquierda - (to/on the) left

Sigo - I go / follow

todo recto - straight ahead

So for example:

Cuando voy al colegio paso una iglesia y por delante de un banco. - When I go to school, I go past a church and in front of a bank.

Cinco minutos más tarde, giro a la derecha y por fin llego al colegio. - Five minutes later I turn right and finally arrive at school.
