Numbers 11-20

Please note: There is a short delay when playing the audio clips.

Numbers bigger than ten are useful for telling the time, for example.

Can you see a pattern below?

once - eleven

doce - twelve

trece - thirteen

catorce - fourteen

quince - fifteen

That's right! They all end in -CE.

There's another pattern coming up from sixteen - nineteen. Can you work it out?

dieciséis - sixteen

diecisiete - seventeen

dieciocho - eighteen

diecinueve - nineteen

You're saying diez y seis - literally, 'ten and six' and so on. It's just written slightly differently so it's all one word - dieciséis.

veinte - twenty

Son las cinco y veinte. - It's twenty-past five.
