School Day
Daily routines
During term time we have a routine that we follow every day, day after day! If we want to tell someone about it, we can use these phrases:
Je me reveille. - I wake up.
Je me lève. - I get up.
Je me lave. - I wash.
Je me brosse les dents. - I brush my teeth.
Je me douche. - I have a shower.
Je m'habille. - I get dressed.
All these phrases are REFLEXIVE – that means that you do them TO YOURSELF, hence the me part. Je me lave literally means 'I wash myself'.
Je me lave. - I wash myself.
Je me couche. - I go (literally, put myself) to bed.
Other things you do every day aren't reflexive:
Je prends le petit déjeuner. - I have breakfast.
Je vais à l'école. - I go to school.
Je sors à huit heures. - I leave home at 8 o'clock.
Je retourne chez moi. - I go home.
You can make longer sentences with these phrases. For example:
Je me reveille à sept heures. - I wake up at 7 o'clock.
Je me douche et je prends le petit-déjeuner. - I shower and have breakfast.
Now you have a go!
