Parents' notes
Overview
The language content is delivered in 10 'segments'. Each is divided into several sections: the presentation with cartoons, a repeat of the presentation with text added, a 'listen and match' activity, a photo-story 'En France' and an interactive game. Printable worksheets provide further consolidation.
Most primary children faced with a new website will start to explore on their own, and will soon be familiar with the format, happily moving in and out of different activities. For new languages it is important that they take one step at a time, listening carefully to the presentation of new language, and when this is soundly embedded, moving on to the games and support material. At this point, you can help your child practise the phrases and create new ones, based on everyday activities. Frequently, when they are not sure of all the words, children will mix English and French, but this is normal and shows how they can transfer information.
