Art
Primary Art features fun and easy art activities you can do with your child at home. The content has been designed for 9- to 11-year-olds but many of the techniques and activities could be used with children younger and a little older than the target age-group. Three themed murals are broken down into a series of short art activities which you can do with your child to achieve very satisfying results.

Geography
Barnaby Bear travels the world, introducing children aged 5-7 to places at home and abroad. Through stories and games, children can develop and test their understanding of the world around them - they also have the opportunity to send in their own pictures to Barnaby's Photo Album and see their photo online!

What is Weather? explains the differences between weather and climate and how weather affects the lives of people. The site uses climate zones as examples and explains the different weather elements using entertaining animations. Parents will find this very useful for their 7- to 9-year-olds.

Island Life compares and contrasts the lives and experiences of the children of Rathlin Island and Hallig Oland (in Germany). It is designed for 9- to 11-year-old children to use as active, independent learners developing the skills identified in the upper Key Stage 2 curriculum.

Two Cities focuses on Belfast and Mexico City to meet Key Stage 2 geography curriculum requirements on 'contrasting localities'. Visitors can hear from other children what it's like to live in each city, then compare and contrast different geographical aspects.

Rivers & Coasts offers a virtual field trip for childred aged 9-12. The site provides interactive maps, diagrams, photographs and fact files which can be used to further children's geographical and enquiry skills as they explore the physical features of rivers and coasts, the impact they have on human life and the environmental issues surrounding them.

History
Famous People features information about about the lives and achievements of historical figures such as Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Christopher Columbus, Elizabeth Fry and Henry VIII. Illustrated audio clips provide information, whilst games and quizzes let children test their knowledge and other skills.

Dynamo's History is full of fun games to play, stories to read and activities to try with your 5- to 9-year-old. Children can Step Back in Time to visit a Victorian house or arrange objects on a timeline to test their historical knowledge. Print and Do sheets provide further information and ideas for investigations to do at home.

The Anglo-Saxons is packed with information for 7- to 9-year-olds. Children can make their own Anglo-Saxon manuscripts, riddles and runes in our interactive guide to 8th century English life.

Children of World War 2 can be used at school with the help of a teacher or at home with the help of parents. There is online archived material to view and printable worksheets to help children document their work. You can go on a virtual tour of a model house or read correspondence from wartime evacuees. The site is aimed at children between the ages of 7-9.

The Vikings uses challenges, games, and on- and offline activities to help children aged 7-9 to explore the lives and legacies of this fascinating civilisation.

Indus Valley offers a fun way for your child to learn about the ancient Indus civilisation. Friendly archaeologist Professor Indus guides visitors through online activities such as expeditions, archaelogical digs and making their own newspaper reports. Children can work their way through the levels independently or with a friend. The website is suitable for children aged 7-11.

The Romans has been specifically designed to cater for 7- to 11-year-olds studying history. There are seven fun activities to print and try at home, as well as an illustrated timeline, handy glossary and list of useful resources.

Walk Through Time is designed to help 7- to 9-year-olds explore the 1950s, Roman, Viking, Tudor and Victorian eras. Games and activities help children to compare and contrast the different periods and are supported by printable activity sheets for you to try at home.

Ancient Greece has been developed for children aged 9-11 and features interactive illustrated content, exploring themes such as law and order, government and the Olympic Games.

Children in Victorian Britain provides an interesting insight for 9- to 11-year-olds into the lives of children during the reign of Queen Victoria. Flash movies provide engaging learning material on the themes of children at work, at school and at play, whilst games and printable worksheets help to build and check understanding.

ICT
Dance Mat Typing is an introduction to touch typing for children aged 7-11. With the help of animated characters, children can work through 12 different typing lessons to develop keyboard familiarity and finger positioning.

Languages
Primary Spanish is designed to help 8- to 11-year-olds learn Spanish. Children can listen to, and repeat, simple phrases, learn to chat in Spanish about their favourite celebrity and learn about how people celebrate fiestas in Spain.

Primary French is designed to help 10- to 11-year-olds learn French. The language content is delivered in 10 segments, each of which is divided into several sections: a presentation with cartoons, a repeat of the presentation with text added, a 'listen and match' activity, a photo-story 'En France' and an interactive game. Printable worksheets provide further consolidation.

Literacy
The Little Animals Activity Centre is a fun site targeted at 4- to 8-year-olds. The site includes games for children to play with the help of their parents. Fun word games encourage children to explore 'end sounds', 'first sounds' and rhymes, whilst Storybear uses interactive story books to help build confidence with reading.

Magic Key can be used on its own, or as a complement to the Magic Key TV programmes. Designed for 5- to 6-year-olds, this website takes children - and parents - on a series of learning adventures exploring features such as punctuation, constructing sentences and understanding capital letters.

Starship provides opportunities for children to practise their literacy skills as they prepare for their National Tests at the end of Key Stage 1. The animated characters Star, Sky and Hutch guide children through engaging games such as Word Jumbler and Story Plant whilst 'print and do' worksheets can be used to recap and check learning.

Words and Pictures is packed with games to reinforce learning objectives for Key Stage 1. As well as colourful multimedia clips and activities, the site also features printable activity sheets and illustrated poems for Literacy Hour.

Dynamo's Den is full of fun games to play, stories to read and activities to try with your 5- to 9-year-old. Spell against the clock in Spellbound, or try one of the word games to print off and play anytime.

Digger and the Gang reinforces the school curriculum in a fun, interactive way, whilst improving ICT, reasoning and creativity skills. For each age group, 5-7 years, 7-9 years and 9-11 years, there are a series of adventure activites, games and print-outs.

Spelling with the Spellits offers a fun way for your child to improve their spelling. The three games, designed for 7- to 11-year-olds, invite children to follow a quest or solve a mystery by doing some spelling challenges. If they get stuck, the game will automatically offer them some help - so they can work through the challenges on their own.

Music
Musical Mysteries is a lively interactive site for 7- to 11-year-olds allowing children to have fun while exploring basic musical concepts in sound, rhythm and mood. As children work their way through the site, they gain valuable listening, composing and musical interpretation skills. The site also provides opportunities for children to investigate a range of orchestral instruments.

Numeracy
Numbertime puts the fun back into numbers for 4- to 6-year-olds. Flexible enough to be used by children on their own or in a group, at home or in the classroom, the site contains online activities, printable worksheets, story animations and songs to increase number confidence.

The Little Animals Activity Centre is a fun site targeted at 4- to 8-year-olds. Count Hoot hosts number games to help children practise adding up and taking away, with three levels to try as they gain in confidence.

PSHE
It's Up to You! is aimed at 7- to 9-year-olds and promotes a healthy lifestyle. The interactive activities offered on the site will give children a better understanding of the importance of food and exercise and the impact they have on the body.

Science
DynaMo's Lab is full of entertaining experiments and activities for you to print off and try with your 5- to 9-year-old at home, as well as some great games to play. Children can test their science knowledge with Science Splat or discover the secrets of science with a series of experiments using everyday objects.

Science Clips is aimed at children aged 5-11 years and their teachers. Units are broken down into age group and topic and for each of the 36 units, there is an interactive experiment and quiz.

Pod's Mission contains three fun topics to support the Key Stage 2 science curriculum. Each topic is illustrated with an online activity, suggestions for an experiment to try and a detailed explanation of the science behind the activities.

Resources for students in Scotland and Wales

Scotland
What, Where, When, Why? is series of websites for 5- to 9-year-olds which guide children through an exploration of buildings, homes, living things, textile technology, and Scottish woodlands. Through games and interactive activities, children develop their investigative and reasoning skills, learning to ask, and answer, 'What, When, Where, Why?'.

See You See Me is targeted at children aged 7-9. Three topic areas are covered: 'Romans in Scotland', 'Scots and Picts', and sustainability and environmentalism. Each topic features fun-packed activities which can be used to complement the televised education See You See Me units, or used independently as an engaging learning resource.

Burgh Life in Mary's Time focuses on life in Scotland during the 16th century. This site enables children to focus on people, events and societies of significance in the past - in a Scottish context. Children also have the opportunity to make comparisons with other European countries when they consider religion and the import and export trade at that time.

Citizenship offers a friendly introduction to the complicated subject of democracy. Through cartoon scenarios, activities and noticeboard debates it encourages children to think a bit more about what it is to be a citizen by looking at three topics: people and needs; rules, rights and responsibilities; and conflict and decision-making.

The Highland Clearances website looks at the lives of people who lived in the Scottish Highlands during the time of the Clearances. It is easy to use, interactive and covers levels C to E of Environmental Studies 5 - 14. Through interactive activities such as information gathering, newspaper and letter writing, quizzes and various games, the children will discover what factors caused the Clearances and the effects they had on the Highland communities.

Scotland during the Second World War is aimed at 10- to 12-year-olds and sets a series of fun and challenging 'missions' to encourage children to explore issues around life in Scotland during the war.

Scotland in the 60s introduces children to some of the changes that occurred in Scotland, and the world, during the 1960s. Through archive footage, video interviews with people who grew up in the 60s, music clips and photos, the site develops children's understanding of one of the most vibrant and radical eras in twentieth century history.

Technology - Things We Wear uses animations and interactive activities to introduce children to concepts such as the role of the customer, the need for differing design specifications and the use of different materials and equipment to create solutions to practical needs, wants and problems.

Wales
Bobinogs is for 3- to 6-year-olds. Packed with fun games, songs and e-cards, children will love the colourful world of the Bobinogs.

Snapdragon has lots of games for children aged 3-6 to enjoy. The games have been designed to help young children to develop a range of fundamental skills ranging from numeracy, sound, letter and word recognition, to control of the mouse and hand-to-eye co-ordination. Throughout the site, Welsh words and phrases are used alongside English to help both children and parents to become familiar with the language, whilst the picture gallery provides a great opportunity for children to show off their creative skills.

Bowns features games suitable for Early Learning children who are fluent Welsh speakers, as well as for young Welsh learners in the company of parents or teachers.

Did you know? is a fun quiz designed to let primary school children test their knowledge of Welsh history. Children can pit their wits against a friend or play solo to test their own skills.

Iron Age Celts is aimed at children aged 7-11, their teachers and their parents. Through cartoon games and stories and illustrated fact files children can explore what is known, and what is just speculated, about this fascinating era.
