by the denominator (bottom number).
E.g. 3/5 is 3 ÷ 5 = 0.6
Converting
a fraction to a percentage
To convert a fraction to a percentage, first change the fraction
to a decimal (as above), and multiply by 100.
E.g. 3/5 = 0.6 = 0.6 x 100% = 60%
Decimals
Converting
a decimal to a percentage

by 100.
E.g. 0.37 = 0.37 x 100 = 37%
Converting
a decimal to a fraction
To convert a decimal to a fraction, first work out the place value
of the last digit, then write the number (without a decimal point)
as a fraction of the place value and cancel it down.
E.g. 0.075
The last digit is in the 'thousandths' column, so 0.075 = 75/1000
= 3/40.
E.g. 3.5
The last digit is in the 'tenths' column, so 3.5 = 35/10 = 7/2
= 3 ½.
Percentages

E.g. 57% = 57 ÷ 100 = 0.57
Converting

the percentage into a decimal. Then change the decimal to a fraction
(see 'Converting a decimal to a fraction').
