Mental Starter
- Mental recall of multiplication facts up to 10 × 10.
- Number bonds to 100.
- "I will give you a number, tell me how much more I need to get to 100?"

Activities
- Give the Whole Numbers worksheet out.
- The pupils should read through the first example and the teacher could discuss the links with them.
- The pupils complete the first exercise.
- The pupils read through the second example and the teacher discusses the links.
- The pupils complete the second exercise.
Extension
- A good extension would be to introduce:
"If 32 × 21 = 672, what is 3.2 × 21?"
- This could then lead on to questions such as:
"If 27 × 31 = 837, what is 83.7 ÷ 31?"
Plenary
- Lots of quick fire questions on the topic.
