Atmosphere and setting

Characters are only part of a piece of fiction; atmosphere and setting are also vital components. Your teachers might ask you to analyse (explain what you learn about) the atmosphere or setting described in an extract. For a Level 5 or above, you will need to show understanding of both explicit (clear, straightforward) and implicit (between the lines) meanings.

This Revision Bite will help you to revise explicit and implicit meanings.
