Translation and hints

QuestionsHints
  • 1. Ble est ti yn ystod y gwyliau?
  • Where did you go during the holidays?
Remember to use the past tense and try giving a reason to explain why you went to that particular destination.
  • 2. Sut est ti yno?
  • How did you get there?
Use linking words to give a clear picture of all the different modes of transport you used to get to your holiday destination. Try using second person plural in the past tense, eg aethon ni (we went).
  • 3. Gyda pwy est ti?
  • Who did you go with?
Again, use full sentences and the past tense in order to give as many details as possible about the people on holiday. Here's an opportunity for you to use the third person singular and plural in the past tense, and combine the past tense with the present tense by giving some general information about the people.
  • 4. Ble arhosaist ti?
  • Where did you stay?
This answer again requires the past tense, but also try using adjectives to describe the accommodation and even mention the facilities provided. A description of your room would be good here.
  • 5. Beth wnest ti yno?
  • What did you do there?
This answer could be split into two – describing what you did in the day and then what you did in the evenings. Again, the past tense is required and you could vary the answer by using singular and plural tenses eg, es i/aeth e/aethon ni/aethon nhw. Linking words would also be good here.
  • 6. Sut oedd y tywydd?
  • How was the weather?
This must be answered with roedd hi’n... or roedd y tywydd yn... Certain weather idioms would improve the standard of this answer eg roedd hi’n bwrw hen wragedd a ffyn to say that it was raining heavily or diwrnod i’r brenin to describe a good day.
  • 7. Fwynheuaist ti dy wyliau?
  • Did you enjoy your holiday?
You need to answer with a do or naddo answer and then give a reason why. Take this opportunity to use the conditional tense hoffwn i to state if you would like to go back there or where you would like to go on holiday next time.
