Holidays abroad

This exercise will help you to practise writing a simple postcard whilst on holiday.

Writing question: Postcards

In your controlled writing assessments, you will have to write at least 100 words for each task. If you are aiming for grade C and above, you will have to write at least 200 words for each. The practice exercises here are mainly shorter, just to help you gain confidence in your writing.

First, read the postcard you wrote to your French teacher last year from Italy. Then complete the postcard underneath, replacing the highlighted words in the first postcard with new ones which describe your holiday this year in Spain.

Print out this page and fill in the gaps, or write down your answers onto paper.

Question

Last year, you went to Italy. Here is the postcard that you sent to your French teacher.

Bonjour!

A bientôt,

Andy

This year, you are on holiday in Spain, in Malaga. Copy out the card below, filling in the gaps by inventing details that are different from what you wrote in the card above.

Bonjour! En ce moment je suis en ...................., à .................... avec ..................... Nous sommes arrivés .................... dernier à .................... heures du soir. .................... était très confortable.

Aujourd'hui ..................... L'hôtel est super. J'ai une grande chambre avec .....................

Ici, on peut .................... et .....................

C'est super!

A bientôt,

Andy
