Timeline of events in Great Expectations

Date	Event
1792	Compeyson swindles and abandons Miss Havisham.
1797	Birth of Pip, Estella, Biddy and Herbert Pocket.
1800	Magwitch and Compeyson become partners.
1803	Compeyson is caught trying to pass forged notes, but the court blames Magwitch, who receives a much longer sentence.
	On Christmas Eve, Magwitch and Compeyson escape; Magwitch meets Pip in the churchyard.
	On Christmas Day, Magwitch and Compeyson are recaptured; Magwitch is transported to Australia.
1804	Pip makes his first visit to Satis House.
1811	Miss Havisham pays for Pip to be Joe's apprentice.
1812	Mrs Joe is attacked, and Biddy comes to look after her.
1815	Jaggers takes Pip to London to give him his 'great expectations'. Joe visits Pip, but Pip is embarrassed by him.
1816	Mrs Joe's funeral; Pip quarrels with Biddy.
1820
November	Magwitch returns.
1821
January	Pip prepares to escape to Europe.
February	Pip finds Compeyson has been following him. Miss Havisham apologises; and is burned.
March	Orlick tries to kill Pip. Pip and Magwitch try to escape, but are captured.
April	Magwitch dies; Pip falls ill and is nursed by Joe.
June	Pip goes to the village to propose to Biddy, but she is marrying Joe.
July	Pip goes to work with Pocket for Clarriker's in Cairo.
1832	Pip returns to the village and meets Joe, Biddy and young Pip, and, later that afternoon, Estella.
1860	Pip writes his story.
