Kathleen Jamie: Crossing the Loch

Context

Kathleen Jamie is a Scottish poet, who also writes non-fiction. She began writing at school, and her first book of poetry was published when she was just 20 years old. Her poetry draws extensively on the landscape and language of Scotland and also on her experiences of travelling in Pakistan and other places. She sometimes writes in Scots (spoken in Lowland Scotland and different to Scottish Gaelic) and believes that poetry should "pay attention" to the world.
