Although it's best to leave the construction of your eportfolio until the end of the project, do think about how it will be structured and how it will look at the start of the project.

Planning it from the start will help with the planning of the overall project.

Content structure

The best way to plan an eportfolio is to draw a structure chart, showing the different pages you'll need.

Look at the SPB [SPB: Summative Project Brief - the project brief set by Edexcel and the means by which your attainment is assessed. ] and then put all the things you need to produce on to the structure chart. The structure chart should look something like this:

There's no set structure for an eportfolio, but you do need to have all the things listed in the SPB [SPB: Summative Project Brief - the project brief set by Edexcel and the means by which your attainment is assessed. ]. Make sure you arrange it in a way that makes it easy for the marker and moderatormoderator: an individual who vets messages posted on a message board to find things.

Top tips:

  • Include information about yourself - name, exam number, school, centre number and date - on the homepage.
  • Make it clear which module the eportfolio is for, eg D201.
  • Make sure you can always get back to the homepage. Don't rely on the back button!

Make doubly sure your structure matches what the SPB that you are working on is asking from you.
