Red, blue and yellow are known as primary colours. In theory, all other colours can be mixed from these three colours.

The secondary colours are created by mixing two primary colours. THe secondary colours are green, purple and orange.

Complementary colours are opposite each other. The complemantary of any primary colour is made by mixing the other two primaries.

  • red is opposite green
  • blue is opposite orange
  • yellow is opposite purple

Warm colours are based on red and include red, yellow and orange.

Cool colours are based on blue and include blue, green and indigo.
