The 'Famous People' website looks at the life and times of ten famous people:
Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Christopher Columbus, Elizabeth Fry, Henry VIII,
Edward Jenner, Florence Nightingale, Samuel Pepys, Pocahontas, Mary Seacole
and George Stephenson. The site supports the history curriculum at Key Stage
One and its requirement for young children to find out about significant
men, women and children and events from the recent and more distant past,
including those from Britain and the wider world. The selection of people
was made to reflect different time periods and to introduce the wider world
aspect.
This site has been designed to be easy to use by the children themselves.
The site will work best for the child if an adult initially makes them familiar
with the help icon and its function.
