The Henry VIII Game


Dressing Henry VIII in his armour game

This self-marking game introduces children to Henry VIII and to a time beyond living memory when kings sometimes wore armour. It also allows children to understand the nature of armour at that time as they sequence the stages of Henry VIII being dressed.

It will develop the historical skills:
  • Recognise that some things happened a long time ago;
  • Recognise that certain objects [armour] belong to the past;
  • Use language relating to the passing of time;
  • Sequence some aspects of an event [getting dressed in armour];
  • Know that people can be represented in different ways;
  • Recall some details about a famous person;
  • Ask and answer questions about the past.

This self-marking game introduces children to activities Henry VIII liked to do, jousting and tennis. It allows children to understand why people wore armour when they were jousting.
