Packed lunches - and school dinners - are generally not that bad, according to School Reporters from Priory School, Lewes.

They were reacting to a report from the Children's Food Trust which says packed lunches sometimes contain nothing more than cold chips or bread and butter.

WHAT DID YOU HAVE FOR LUNCH TODAY?

Ossia - I had school dinners and had a cheese sandwich, an apple juice and a shortbread biscuit. Normally I have pasta and juice and my friends normally have the same as me.

About half of them have fruit - most of them have chocolate.

Flora - I have packed lunches. I had a peanut butter sandwich, a packet of crisps and a yoghurt to eat as well. I normally have that for lunch every day, but sometimes have some fruit with it.

Ellen - I'm school dinners. I had a slice of pizza and some dried fruit. I normally have that or pasta, something hot.

Safi - I had a packet of crisps and a wrap with mozzarella, basil and tomato in, that's pretty much what I have normally.

ARE PACKED LUNCHES MORE UNHEALTHY AND MORE LIKELY TO CONTAIN THINGS LIKE COLD CHIPS?

Flora - I haven't seen people with chips in their lunchboxes - but the school does do have chips on Fridays though. I guess people just get that.

Most of me and my friends do have good lunches - and the school dinners are quite nice.

Ellen - I haven't seen anyone eat any of that stuff, most people are quite healthy. I take a piece of fruit to school everyday.

Safi - I think lunches haven't changed at all. People have the same meals as usual.

I see a lot of people having fruit, most people do have it in their lunches. People are quite healthy and they're aware of what they eat.

WHY DO YOU CHOOSE THE DINNERS YOU DO?

Ossia - I think it's easier to have school dinners because it's all at school and you can get hot food.

Flora - I prefer having packed lunch because it means I can have what I'd like to - but I do sometimes buy a sausage roll of something from school.

Ellen - I don't have enough time in the morning to make a packed lunch, and it's easier it [with food] being hot at school.

Safi - Packed lunches are cheaper. I can buy in bulk and have the same thing everyday.
