It is Christmas and King Arthur and his court are celebrating at Camelot.

Suddenly the festivities are interrupted by an unexpected guest - the Green Knight - a giant of a man on horseback, dressed all in green.

The Green Knight challenges the knights of the Round Table to a 'Christmas game'. He will allow any one of them to aim an axe-blow to his neck, on condition that in a year's time he will be allowed to return the blow.

The Green Knight waits for a response but it seems none of the knights is brave enough to take up the challenge...
