PRESENTER: Listen - what can you hear?

CHILDREN: Clapping! / I can hear somebody clapping.

PRESENTER: It's me - Im clapping my hands together. Listen again.

You join in with me when i say 'go'. Ready? Go.

We're going to do that again. This time put your hands up by your head to clap. Ready? Go!

PRESENTER: Listen - what can you hear?

CHILDREN: More clapping. More people!

PRESENTER: A lot of people clapping. But they're not near, they're far away.

Listen again.

Say if the clapping is near or far away. Ready?

CHILDREN: Near. That clapping is near.

PRESENTER: Listen again...

CHILDREN: Far away. The clapping is far away.

PRESENTER: Listen one more time...

CHILDREN: Near. That time the clapping is near.

PRESENTER: Some sounds are near...and some sounds are far away.

Listen. What can you hear?

CHILDREN: A bird. I can hear a bird!

PRESENTER: It's a bird in a tree. Is it near or far away? Listen again!

CHILDREN: Near. The bird is near.

PRESENTER: The bird is near. Listen. What can you hear this time?

CHILDREN: A bird. I can hear a bird that's far away.

PRESENTER: Another bird...and this one is far away. Put your hand up in the air each time you hear a different bird that is nearby. Listen carefully!

This time put your hand up each time you hear a different bird that is far away. Listen carefully.

This time some birds will be near and some birds will be far away. Put your hand in the air each time you hear a bird that is near. Remember, only the birds that are near. Listen carefully.

And make sure your hands are down again.

Listen to the sounds of these animals. Can you say what animals they are?

CHILDREN: A horse! I can hear a horse!

PRESENTER: Listen -

CHILDREN: A cat. I hear a cat.

PRESENTER: Listen again -

CHILDREN: A dog! I hear a dog!

PRESENTER: Listen again -

CHILDREN: A sheep. I hear a sheep!

PRESENTER: A horse, a cat, a dog, a sheep. Listen again.

This time some animals are far away but one is near.

Can you say the name of the animal that is near?

Listen. What can you hear?

CHILDREN: A train. I can hear a train.

PRESENTER: A train! Is it coming nearer or going away? Listen again.

CHILDREN: It's coming nearer. The train is coming nearer.

PRESENTER: A train coming nearer and nearer...

And going right past us!

And now the train is going away. Lsiten. What can you hear?

CHILDREN: A car. I can hear a car.

PRESENTER: Is the car coming nearer or going away? Listen again.

CHILDREN: It's going away. The car is going away.

PRESENTER: The car is going away from us. Sounds near and sounds faraway. Sounds coming nearer and sounds going away. Sounds all around us...every day.
