Together provides a complete assembly resource for juniors, using material from a broad range of cultural and religious sources. Each programme contains a story, a song and a time for reflection and is suitable for whole school or class use.
The seriesaims to encourage children to investigate and reflect on attitudes and responses; explore religious belief and the experience of worship; develop an awareness of the moral and spiritual dimensions of everyday life; encourage greater understanding of the world within and around us and help teachers fulfil the legal requirements for Collective Worship by ensuring that much of the material 'reflects the broad traditions of Christian belief'.
The Education Reform Act 1988 requires all schools (with provisions) to take part in a daily act of Collective worship which is 'wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character'. The Together approach to Collective Worship includes material from a wide range of cultural and religious backgrounds. Together also links to other important non-statutory areas of the curriculum, in particular PSHE and Citizenship, particularly developing confidence and responsibility; preparing to play an active role as citizens; developing good relationships and respecting the differences between people.
