The Game

The Sheriff of Nottingham has challenged Robin Hood to participate in a gladiatorial tournament. Take on the role of 'Robin Hood' and fight your way through a series of challenges to the final showdown with the Sheriff himself.

Game play

• Each challenge lasts for 2 minutes - you must survive enemy attacks within this time before you can encounter the main opponent.
• Defeat the main opponent to complete the challenge - otherwise you will not receive a final score or keep any trophies you earned.
• Robin's health automatically recovers over time after being hit by an enemy - but if you get hit 3 times in a row you lose
• The Barrel Run does not feature any enemies - instead you must avoid getting hit by the barrels to win.

Controls

• Moving: Use the arrow keys to move (or the W, A, S, D keys)
• Sword Strike: Tap the mouse button (or the Space Bar)
• Sword strikes can deflect arrows
• Aiming arrows: Use the mouse cursor (or the I, J, K, L keys)
• Firing arrows: Hold the mouse button to draw bow and release to fire (or the Space Bar)
• Long arrow shots: Hold the mouse button for longer to build up power (or the Space Bar)

Top tips

• Barrels can be smashed open with a sword strike
• Crates can be smashed open with an arrow strike
• Collect the gold bags - every bag adds to your score multiplier and helps boost your score
• Barrel Run: Hit the targets and break the white barrels to increase your score
• Trophies can be earned by completing special objectives:

• One down... - Survive a main opponent fight
• Showmanship - Do not hit an enemy for 60 seconds
• Marksmanship - Defeat 10 enemies in a row with arrow attacks
• Swordsmanship - Defeat 10 enemies in a row with sword attacks
• Master archer - Finish the whole challenge using arrows only
• Mr mirror man - Deflect 10 arrows in one challenge
• Can't touch this! - Clear a challenge without being hit
• Clean sweep - Clear a challenge without missing an attack
• Top of the class - Win 300,000 points
• Top of the world - Win 500,000 points
• The debt collector - Pick up 30 bags of gold
• The liberator - Complete all challenges in one session

Why you register/sign in

• To save your score on the leaderboard and try to beat it every time you play
• To see your position on the 'All Players' leaderboard
• To invite friends to join your 'Friends' leaderboard and challenge them
• To view the trophies you have earned and play again until you have collected them all

Leaderboards

• There is a separate leaderboard for each challenge
• Each leaderboard displays an 'All Players' view; and a 'Friends' view
• The leaderboards show the trophies you've earned across all challenges

About Unity

Robin Hood Showdown uses the Unity web plugin, which is designed to deliver rich and immersive 3D graphics in a browser.

Unity requirements

• Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Mac OS X 10.3.9 or newer.
• Browser support includes Internet Explorer 6 & 7, Firefox 2 & 3, Safari 3.1 or newer, and most Mozilla-based browsers.

Unity installation

If you don't already have the Unity Web Player installed, you will be prompted to install it upon launching the game.

To install the Unity Web Player on Windows XP or Vista:

• 1. Click on the Unity Web Player icon on your screen
• 2. Click on the 'Save' button.
• 3. Run the downloaded file to install the application.
• 4. Go through the installation procedure.
• 5. When it’s done installing you’ll receive a finished message.
• 6. The game will automatically begin after the install. There is no need to restart your browser.

To install the Unity Web Player on a Mac:

• 1. Click on the Unity Web Player icon on your screen
• 2. Click on the 'Open with' button.
• 3. Open the mounted drive on your desktop.
• 4. Open the package within and go through the installation procedure.
• 5. When it's done installing you'll receive a finished message.
• 6. The game will automatically begin after the install. There is no need to restart your browser.
