Stanley's Story
Grandad served through the Great War and subsequently in India.
In WWII, he served as a volunteer fireman.
Always a kind and gentle man.
By just a chance thought as he passed, he called me to the school fence and slipped me a half-crown!
Stanley Doe - Inscription on reverse reads: "For Frankie, With Best Love From Daddie xxx"

Granddad would remark upon the grandness and beauty of the Taj Mahal which he visited during his service in India. He would relate the story of the Shah Jahan and how the heartbroken mogul prince built the mausoleum for his wife. The beauty of the structure was best appreciated in a photograph, however, as this was eclipsed by the stench from the stagnant pool..
