Augustus's Story

My Great Grandfather on my Mother's side, Augustus Gordon Hine. Son of AG Hine, husband of Mrs L M Hine, of Crystal Palace Road, East Dulwich, London. Born in Camberwell, Surrey, Augustus enlisted in the East Surrey Regiment, 57th Company, Machine Gun Corps at Kingston-on-Thames. Killed in action on The Somme aged 30 on Tuesday, 8th August 1916. Remembered with honour at the Aveluy Communal Cemetery Extension, near Albert, Somme, France.
