James's Story

Much loved son of Margret Ellend and John William Smallshaw, brother of William, George, Ernst. Died 12th October 1916 at the battle of Ligny-Thinnoy, and remembered at the Thiepval Memorial, France, Pier and Face 1 D 8 B and 8 C. three of four sons killed in the Great War (George at 3rd battle of YYpres, Belgium and William on the Somme, France). My great uncles. Much missed and all remembered in yesterday's Liverool Echo (7th Nov 2008).
