Harry Jack's Story

This is my Grandfather Harry Jack Haggertay, born in New Brompton Kent in 1882. He was the CSM of 12th Field Cpy Royal Engineers and was involved in the Boer War and the Great War being mentioned in Despatches of Sir John French of which he got a mention in the London Times.

I recently tracked down one of his Medals from a collector in the U.S. so i am very proud to have it back in the family again. Harry`s son also called Harry (Edward) was tragically killed in 1942 on the HMS Niger after straying into a British minefield. He died of Gangrene complications from Diabetes in Chatham 1940.
